How to Use Your Kendama Holder
This page introduces how to use Knotaworks original leather kendama holders. Once you receive your kendama holder, please use this guide to get started.
Introduction
Knotaworks leather kendama holders are made to carry your favourite kendama with you while keeping it on display.
Each holder is handmade from natural leather and designed to become more familiar with you and your kendama through everyday use.
The following guide explains how to attach, use and care for your Knotaworks kendama holder.
There are also some tips to help keep your favourite kendama securely in the holder.
How to Attach
Step 1 — Prepare the Holder
Align the two round holes at both ends of the holder, with the leather surface facing outward.
Attach one end of the S-shaped carabiner through the aligned holes.
Make sure the attachment end of the S-shaped carabiner is positioned on the side with the metal fitting of the holder.
Step 2 — Open the Snap Button
Open the snap button to release the leather strap.
The strap can only be released from the left side. The right side is fixed. Please do not pull the right side forcefully.
Step 3 — Insert Your Kendama
With the tama attached to the ken, insert the Bottom Cup of the kendama into the holder.
Hook both sides of the sarado onto the holder.
Tip: Wrapping the kendama string around the sarado before inserting the tama into the ken can help keep the kendama securely in the holder.
Step 4 — Fasten the Snap Button
Wrap the leather strap around from the back of the holder and fasten the snap button on the front.
Step 5 — Secure the Kendama
Pull the leather strap down as shown in the photo to hold the kendama securely in place.
This helps prevent the kendama from slipping out of the holder.
How to Use
Carry Your Kendama
Use the open side of the S-shaped carabiner to attach your kendama holder to a backpack, tote bag handle, belt buckle, or other convenient place.
Hang It Up
When you get home, you can simply hang the holder on a hook by the entrance, with your kendama still attached.
Take Out Your Kendama
To remove your kendama, open the snap button and slide the kendama out from the side of the holder.
Keep the Carabiner Attached
Once you have attached the S-shaped carabiner to the holder, there is no need to remove it during everyday use.
Wear It Around Your Neck
You can also combine the holder with our separately available leather neck strap and wear your kendama around your neck.
Care & Tips
If Your Holder Gets Wet
If your kendama holder gets wet from rain or other moisture, gently wipe off any excess water first.
Then, using a clean cloth dampened with water and wrung out well, gently wipe the entire leather surface evenly.
This helps the leather age more evenly, rather than leaving visible water-drop marks. The colour may become slightly deeper as the leather dries and ages.
Please avoid soaking the leather or making it excessively wet.
If Your Holder Gets Dirty
For everyday dirt, gently wipe the leather with a clean, soft cloth.
Avoid rubbing the surface too strongly, as this may affect the natural finish of the leather.
For more stubborn stains, please contact us before using any leather cleaner or other treatment. Different types of leather may require different care.

Our kendama holders are made from genuine leather, so the colour and texture will gradually change with use and with the environment in which you use them.
Water marks, scratches, natural wrinkles and marks that were already present in the leather are all part of the character of genuine leather.

Let Your Holder Breathe
For leather goods, regular use and contact with the natural oils from your hands are part of everyday care.
When you are not using your holder, store it in a place with natural airflow. Avoid leaving it in a humid environment for long periods, such as a bathroom, or keeping it sealed inside a box.
Please also be aware that prolonged contact with damp clothing or other materials that may transfer colour can cause colour transfer onto the leather. Depending on the leather and the conditions of use, the colour of the leather may also transfer onto clothing, bags, or other materials.
If the leather begins to feel dry, you can apply a small amount of colourless leather conditioner. If you use a new conditioner, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first.
For everyday care, simply handling and using your leather holder is also a good way to keep it familiar, supple and naturally cared for.
