The Solo Series
Solo is an original Knotaworks kendama holder made from a single type of leather.
Unlike the Harmony series, which explores the combination of different colours and types of leather, Solo celebrates the natural beauty of one carefully selected leather and allows its character to take centre stage.
This holder is made from Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather in its natural, undyed colour.
Completely Handmade by Knotaworks
Every Solo kendama holder is completely handmade by Kei of Knotaworks.
From selecting the leather and developing the original design to cutting, assembling, crafting and finishing, every step is carried out by Kei.
Because natural leather is used, no two pieces are exactly alike. Natural variations such as marks, grain patterns and subtle differences in colour are part of the character of the material.
We invite you to enjoy these natural differences as part of what makes your holder uniquely yours.
A Leather Holder That Grows with Your Kendama
Vegetable-tanned leather is a firm and durable material, so the holder may feel slightly stiff when it is new.
With continued use, however, the leather gradually softens and moulds itself to the shape of your favourite kendama. Over time, it becomes more familiar, comfortable and personal to you.
The natural colour of vegetable-tanned leather also makes its ageing process especially visible.
As you use your holder, the leather gradually develops a deeper colour, richer tone and unique surface character. The more you use it, the more its appearance changes.
Rather than simply buying a finished product, you can enjoy watching your own kendama holder develop over time into a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your use and your journey with your kendama.
We hope you will enjoy the beautiful transformation of natural vegetable-tanned leather over time.
Secure Kendama Holder
The holder is designed with a practical snap-button mechanism.
Release the snap button to open one side of the leather strap, then insert your kendama and fasten the snap button again. Pulling the leather strap down helps hold the kendama securely in place, reducing the chance of the kendama slipping out of the holder.
As the leather softens and moulds to your kendama through use, the holder gradually becomes more comfortable and familiar.
An S-shaped carabiner is used to attach the holder, and the hook can be replaced if needed. This allows you to continue using the holder for a long time.
Natural Leather and Everyday Care
The colour and appearance shown in the photographs are for reference only. Natural leather can vary in colour, grain and texture, and each piece has its own individual character.
The leather and metal fittings will develop a natural patina over time. Please enjoy these changes as part of the ageing process of a handmade leather product, while taking care to avoid unnecessary exposure to water.
Limited Availability
The leather used for Knotaworks products depends on the availability of suitable materials.
For this reason, all Knotaworks leather products listed in our shop are limited to available stock. Once a particular piece sells out, it is highly likely that it will be discontinued and may not be reproduced.
Each Solo holder is therefore a small-batch, handmade piece that will continue to develop its own unique character with you.
